Peaches and Fig yearn for what lies outside the screen door. Gasp! Is that a rat in the tomato plant?

Siblings Peaches and Fig have formed an unlikely attachment to two nighttime visitors: a charismatic rat named Le Rat King and across-the-yard neighbor Noodle. Noodle, a sleek black cat, and Peaches, a posh calico, exchange fleeting but precious moments at the screen door, including bean-taps and “mews of affection,” as described by their surprised humans. Peaches has even gone as far as to show Noodle her belly!  While Peaches struggles through dreadful limerence, Noodle has neither confirmed nor denied feelings. It’s what humans call “left on read.” Meanwhile, adventurous and curious Fig has been learning heist maneuvers from Monsieur King, who has a taste for back patio tomatoes. We asked Fig to report back to us when he learns how to open cans!
